Things to Do in Tampa Bay in 2011
Published by nora | Filed under Buyer / Seller Tips, Miscellaneous
In addition to the lovely Tampa Bay beaches and sunshine, the area offers other things that you can do and enjoy in Tampa Bay as a guest, vacationer or a prospective home buyer.
The fun things that are mentioned below are among the latest and are the ones scheduled or launched this month or the coming months.
IDBF World Dragon Boat Racing Championship
Thousands of visitors and participants from more than 30 countries are expected in August for the Dragon boat racing championship to be held by the International Dragon Boat Federation and the Tampa Bay Dragon Boat Institute.
The event will be preceded by the Pan American Club Crew Championships in July. Mini regattas are being held for those who like to enhance their paddling skills to competition levels.
Lowry Park Zoo Videos
To preview some of the behind-the-scenes antics of amazing animals at Lowry Park, you can check out the park’s YouTube channel. You’ll enjoy the wallaby walkabout, the African penguin feeding, and a manatee treatment.
Florida Aquarium
Join orphan otters as they learn how to swim at the aquarium. The World Oceans Day will also be celebrated at this place with learning activities about coral reefs and fishing, games, giveaways and prizes.
Clearwater Airpark
Have your child enjoy this experience of a lifetime. If your child is between the ages of 8 and 17, he or she is qualified to experience an aviation journey for free at this airpark. Visit the Young Eagles website and find the flight coordinator nearest your area.
Your child will learn about the basics in flying and the parts of the airplane that control the flight. During the flight, which takes about 15 to 20 minutes, you’ll be able to look at Tampa Bay from the sky. Your child’s name will also be written in the World’s Largest Logbook, which is the Young Eagles Passenger Logbook.
Busch Garden’s Cheetah Hunt ride
The much-hyped and much-awaited Cheetah Hunt roller coaster attraction is now running. It consists of 4,429 feet of track, the longest at Busch Gardens, and lets you get views of the entire park. There’s a 130-foot drop and three launch sequences, including one that propels you up the Windcatcher Tower.
Discovery Cove’s Grand Reef
This newest attraction allows you snorkel with rays and swim with schools of fish, such as tangs, angelfish, sardines and groupers. This is in addition to the Swim with the Dolphins experience.
Of course, you can also experience again these other great Tampa attractions:
- Museum of Science and Industry
- University of South Florida Botanical Gardens
- Glazer Children’s Museum
- American Victory Ship
- The Castle
- Ybor City State Museum
