Allendale
is not only one St. Petersburg Florida’s oldest neighborhood
but one of the most prestigious non-waterfront addresses in
St. Petersburg. The Allendale area is characterized by mature
oak trees growing over brick streets. The area is home to
some of St. Petersburg and most historic and unique estate
homes.

Allendale was developed by a man named Cade B. Allen. Allen
purchased 160 acres of “high and dry” land to
develop which was unusual in it’s since all the notable
developers of that era seemed to be focusing solely on waterfront
development.
Allendale was built in a few stages the first 70 or so homes
were built in the area in the pre World War II real estate
boom that St. Petersburg experienced. There were about 180
or so homes built from the start of World War II through the
1950’s. There were about 50 or so more homes built in
the area over the last over the last 47 years.
