Consider Homeowners Insurance Offered by Insurers Topping Customer Surveys
Published by nora | Filed under Buyer / Seller Tips, Miscellaneous, Mortgage / Finance, Real Estate
It makes a lot of sense if you check out homeowners insurance policies rated the best by about 13,000 home insurance policyholders surveyed by global research firm J.D. Power and Associates. If a certain policy worked for thousands of customers, then it could work for you too.
To make your decision-making even better, you can also check out other customer surveys. If certain house insurance firms appear as among the best in most surveys, then these firms must be doing something great for customers.
In the 2010 customer satisfaction survey by J.D. Power, it was Amica Mutual Insurance Co. which ranked Number One. Amica has been on top of this J.D. chart for the past nine consecutive years. Again in the 2010 survey, it got the highest rating of 5 in all the ratings factors considered, namely:
- overall satisfaction
- insurance policy offerings
- pricing
- billing and payment
- ease of contacting the insurer
Of the total of 1,000 points used by J.D. Power to rank home insurance firms, Amica got 849 points. The other companies rated highly by consumers are the following, including Amica and their corresponding customer satisfaction points:
- Amica Mutual 849
- Auto-Owners Insurance 811
- Erie Insurance 801
- Cincinnati Insurance 799
- Alfa Insurance 787
The average score obtained by home insurance firms was 750 and there were 17 firms which got a score of 750 or higher.
The firms which got a score of 4 out of 5 in the overall customer satisfaction factor are the following:
- Alfa Insurance
- American Family
- ANPAC
- Automobile Club of Southern California
- Automobile Club Group
- Auto-Owners Insurance
- CHUBB
- Cincinnati Insurance
- Country
- Erie Insurance
- Shelter
- State Farm
You can also gain some tips from the results of the J.D. Power survey. It found that homeowners who bundled their home insurance policies with their auto policies are more satisfied than those who don’t. Renewal rates are also higher for these homeowners. This means that customers are getting benefits from bundling auto and homeowners policies.
Amica also ranked high – specifically second-best – in the ranking compiled by TopTenREVIEWS, a review site run by TechMediaNetwork Properties. For those wondering about USAA, this insurer serves only U.S. military personnel and their families.
When looking for a homeowners insurance, consider the above ranking, in addition to other industry rankings such as Standard & Poor’s and A.M Best ratings. If firms are rated high, it means that they’re financially stable and able to meet insurance claims on time.
