What About that Summer Home?

Summer homes are signs of wealth and prestige. These homes are not lived in all year, but only part of the year. These homes are often located in the southern part of United States and are in scenic areas. While some of these homes are simple, others are much more expensive than the family’s primary home. Some of these summer homes become rentals and others become timeshares, making the retreat once reserved for the rich and famous available to all.
Summer homes are a symbol of retreat, relaxation, and vacations. Summer homes provide the family with a hub in which to visit scenic locations and other points of interest. Summer homes can come with docks off the back porch and piers close by to store boats. Other summer homes provide great points in which to launch hikes and other adventures. Either way one looks at it, these summer homes are not for the every day use, but rather are like the chocolate in the real estate world.
It is unfortunate that these retreats are not easily affordable to the general public. Most families can barely afford their primary homes, let alone a luxury home to spend summers in. Getting off during the summer long enough to keep a home or make a home worth it is also problematic for most families. For these families, vacationing at a summer home or owning a time share works best for them.
Owning a time share gives one a chance to own a portion of a summer home for a fraction of the price of the summer home. The time share is often owned by others that one does not necessarily know, while one retains ownership as well. This is done by having assigned weeks that the home is available for occupancy per set of owners. This can make it easy to plan in advance when to visit the home and apply for vacation for these visits.
Renting summer homes is a new idea to many people. While renting camp sites and hotel rooms is common, the idea of a short term rental of a house is new to most. Renting a home can be very beneficial for those families that are looking to do one or two major vacations throughout the year. With this method, the summer real estate is owned by a renter and he or she rents the property to individuals on a weekly basis. The rate often changes depending upon the date of the rental, but the real estate value is much higher than what the family would normally be able to afford. This gives the family a sense of true luxury without breaking the bank.
