Real Estate Agents Doing More to Sell Homes

Published by julia | Filed under Market Trends, Miscellaneous, Real Estate, Shout Outs

song-and-dance-routine.jpgIn a market that is one of the worst in many years, real estate agents are doing exactly the opposite of the home buyer; they are spending more money on the homes they are trying to sell. From fixing up the homes to shooting high tech virtual walk through, real estate agents feel the need to impress the few buyers out there that still have the money and the economic clout to buy a home.

When a market is dry, there is little a real estate agent can do to sell a home any faster, right? Many real estate agents will tell you that is exactly the opposite of what you should be thinking. Many years ago there was a comedic act that showed one family that did every job in town. Today, the real estate agent is that comedic act.

Need to contact a real estate agent 24 hours a day? Some real estate agents are adding the ability to text message their personal or business cell phones from the website where you are viewing the home. This increases the one on one question and answer availability for the buyer, but also taxes the home life of the real estate agent.

Need to show a home with high tech video? Some real estate agents are shooting these videos, cutting and editing the videos and uploading the videos to their websites in order to give the potential buyer an up close and personal look at the best homes they have to offer.

Need an appliance fixed before selling? The real estate agent may be able to help. Some real estate agents are paying to fix up the homes they have listed in order to get the home sold faster and at a decent profit for the seller and the agent.

Today it is less about how well you can show a home and more about how many hats you can wear. In order to sell homes and stay out of the red, the real estate agent has to prove just how far the imagination and the checkbook can take you. In the end, the homes are selling, sometimes, but the money put into the homes and the time spent conversing via phone, email and text message with potential buyers may not be enough to offset the cost. With negative predictions for 2009 and 2010, the real estate agent may have to find even more creative ways to sell that next home.
