The Downtown Ghost Tour of St. Petersburg
Published by julia | Filed under Miscellaneous, Pinellas County Homes, Real Estate, Shout Outs
All kinds of things lurk unseen in the shadows throughout downtown St. Petersburg. The Downtown Ghost Tour of St. Petersburg aims to bring those things to light. Did you know that St. Petersburg is one of the most haunted cities in Florida? It’s true! There have been hundreds of reported ghost sightings throughout the city in the past 10 years, any many more sightings going back farther into the past. Many of these ghosts are regulars, too, coming back again and again to their favorite haunts to send chills down the spines of anyone who encounters them. You’ll find out about these well-known ghosts on the Downtown Ghost Tour, and may even see one of them for yourself!
The Downtown Ghost Tour of St. Petersburg is a 90 minute candlelit walking tour that takes you to all of the major haunted locations in the downtown area. It bills itself as the original ghost tour in St. Petersburg, though there are a few competing tours in town. The tour is based on the book, Ghost Stories of St. Petersburg, FL, and goes to most of the locations mentioned in that book. The guides are costumed storytellers who are experienced at raising the hair on the back of your neck with their tales of ghostly terror. Once you’ve completed the tour, you’ll never look at downtown St. Petersburg the same way again!
The tour departs at 8pm every evening year round from the Full Monty Café at 119 2nd Street, North in St. Petersburg. Tours are conducted in all kinds of weather, even rain, so bring an umbrella if it looks cloudy outside! Tours that have to be cancelled due to extremely severe weather will be refunded. Tickets for tours can be purchased online or in person at the Full Monty Café (except for Sunday tours, which have to be purchased online). Prices are $13 per person for online reservations and $15 per person for tickets purchased in person. If you buy tickets in person, it’s cash only. Children ages 4 to 12 are $8 whether purchased online or in person. If you’re ready to find out all about St. Petersburg’s ghostly legacy, including tales of pirates, smugglers, conquistadors, and mobsters and how those people still linger throughout the halls of downtown’s most historic buildings, the Downtown Ghost Tour of St. Petersburg is waiting for you!
