St. Petersburg is a virtual Mecca for shoppers
Published by julia | Filed under Pinellas County Homes, Real Estate, Shout Outs
The northwestern part of the city of St. Petersburg is a virtual Mecca for shoppers. With half a dozen distinct shopping centers within an area of just a few square miles, this corner of the county is bustling with retail activity, and that activity continues to grow each year. At the heart of all of this shopping is Tyrone Square Mall. Built in 1972, Tyrone Square Mall is the largest mall in Pinellas County, as well as in the entire Tampa Bay area. More than 170 individual specialty stores line its walls, as well as a generous number of large anchor stores and a multitude of eating establishments ranging from quick snacks to full sit-down dinners.
The mall is a powerful economic engine for the city of St. Petersburg. Hundreds of thousands of shoppers flock to it each year, bringing the city much-needed funds. These shoppers not only spend money locally at the mall, they also spend it at nearby restaurants, gas stations, and hotels. Yes, there are several hotels within quick walking or driving distance of the mall, making it easily accessible to business and vacation travelers of all kinds. Some people come into town specifically to shop at Tyrone Square Mall and look for lodgings nearby.
Anyone who is looking for a full day of shopping excitement can find it at Tyrone. The mall offers plenty of amenities to make your day easier and keep you coming back for more. There’s a mall-wide Visa gift card available at Guest Services, good for shopping in any mall store. You’ll also find a children’s play area in front of JC Penny, inexpensive stroller rentals, free wheelchair rentals, a cab stand, a lost and found department, 6,000 free parking spaces, and a mall walking club for people who are looking for a fun way to stay fit. With a Starbucks Coffee inside to keep you energized and a large food court that was expanded in 1998 to keep you full, you’ve got everything you need for Olympic-style shopping at its best. Once you’ve shopped at Tyrone Square Mall, you’ll be sure to be back again and again.
