Tampa4u’s Tiffany King: Following Her Dreams
Published by julia | Filed under Miscellaneous, Shout Outs
A beautiful smile, beautiful poise, all showcasing Central Florida’s most beautiful homes: What more could you want from your Realtor? To be sure, Realtor Tiffany Catherine King has all that–and more. She is, after all, Mrs. Hillsborough County, having recently represented her county at the November 17 Mrs. Florida Scholarship Pageant.
“The idea of participating in the Mrs. Florida Scholarship Pageant, says Tiffany, “was not my own. I was looking online for scholarship information, so I could start attending some college classes. When the pageant information popped up on my computer screen, there was a part of me that whispered, ‘Can I do this?’ Then I said to myself ‘No, that’s silly!’ Then, my five children, one by one entered the room looking over my shoulder. They wanted to see what I was hiding behind the computer screen. Very excited my children started saying, ‘You’re going to be in a pageant? Wow! That’s great!’ I hurried and shut the screen, making excuses and telling them, ‘Oh no, I was just looking for scholarship information, and this site came up. I could not be in a pageant.’ Then my sixteen year old son said ‘Mom, you are always telling us kids to reach for the stars, to go for our dreams, that we can be anything we want to be! Mom, you should reach for your dreams too!’”
At this point, Tiffany decided she could not let her children down. In order to set the example of following your dreams, she had to enter. “If I didn’t enter, it would mean I don’t truly believe what I teach my children, and what I share with all the young women I mentor. That everyone should shoot for the moon, and even if you miss, you will land among the stars. You have to try and reach your dreams, don’t just leave them lying on the ground.”
Tiffany’s dreams have turned her into a successful wife, mother–and of course, Realtor. She spent the first 10 years of her marriage to Doug King, staying home to raise her first four children.
“I returned to work as a make-up artist for a large cosmetic company in a department store. I then took a step further in my career, after a customer said to me one day. ‘Tiffany, you are so good in sales, you should take your talent and sell something bigger then a lipstick. How about houses?’ So, I started right away working toward my real estate career. I quit my job, finished my training, and listed 13 houses in my first 3 months as a Realtor. That was five years ago, and my business has been growing ever since.
And yet, Tiffany says she still has dreams to achieve. One dream is to become a professional freelance photographer. “I want to take some classes and start my own business, capturing families’ special moments forever. Nevertheless, she plans to stick with her career as a Realtor. It has become an integral part of who she is. I love my career, and feel lucky to get to meet all of the people I work with, she says.
Putting herself on display for all of Florida to evaluate took guts and determination. Yet these are the qualities that have made Tiffany Catherine King a success at all she does including her outstanding work as a Realtor. We are all so very proud of her:) !!!!
